Minister Leads Enterprise Ireland Trade Visit to Arab Healthcare Exhibition

Minister of State at the Department of Health Jim Daly T.D. is leading an Enterprise Ireland trade visit to Arab Health in Dubai, the largest healthcare exhibition and conference in the MENA region. The trade visit will focus on maximising business opportunities for the 20 Enterprise Ireland clients exhibiting and participating at Arab Health. Attendance of the healthcare exhibition and conference is expected to surpass the 2017 levels of 4,000 exhibitors and over 130,000 visitors from 163 countries.

During the Arab Health show, Minister Daly witnessed a contract signing between Ovelle Pharmaceuticals and Life Pharmacy. Based in Dundalk, Ovelle Pharmaceuticals is an international skincare company, whereas Life Healthcare Group is the largest retail chain of pharmacies in Middle East, with 130+ pharmacies, health & wellness stores and hypermarkets.

Minister Daly will also participate in a number of engagements to build on the strong relationship Enterprise Ireland has with healthcare institutions and government bodies in the UAE including; the Dubai Ambulance and National Ambulance, Abu Dhabi; the Dubai Health Authority and the Dubai Police Medical Services.

Speaking on his arrival at Arab Health Minister Daly said: “The United Arab Emirates presents growth opportunities for Irish companies and is already a significant consumer of Irish goods. In 2016 Enterprise Ireland client company exports to the UAE were in excess of €123 million. By providing a platform for Irish companies to present their solutions and network with leading healthcare professionals, Arab Health is an ideal opportunity to position Ireland as a source of world-class high tech products and solutions for the UAE healthcare sector. I look forward to meeting with representatives from the UAE authorities and industry to promote Irish innovative healthcare solutions over the coming days.”
